BLAST OVERVIEW
Blast Motion is a leading innovator in 3D motion tracking technologies that enables concurrent assessment and player development for sports science and biomechanical analysis applications.  Our solutions utilize advanced biomechanical-based algorithms to quantify the underlying coordination and control patterns of an athlete along with the resultant performance outcomes.  Coaches and players are provided objective feedback around motion-specific key performance indicators (KPI).  The end result is accelerated player development through direct biofeedback loops that allows the athletes to functionally improve performance.

Blast Motion is committed to pushing the boundaries of sports performance by delivering a wearable technology solution that provides actionable insights and direct performance feedback in a completely portable solution that can either replace or augment the use of much more expensive technology solutions such as high-speed optical camera systems and force plates.  This allows a wearable technology solution that can simultaneously be used across an entire professional sports organization or by aspiring athletes of all ages and skill levels to improve rapidly and have fun in the process.

Blast Motion is the official bat sensor technology of Major League Baseball (MLB).  The professional team solution is currently used by 12 MLB teams, including the 2017 World Series Champions Houston Astros, in scouting, player development, and analytics with a number of additional teams starting evaluation in 2018.  In golf, Blast Motion has over 200 top professionals in the world using our solution on the PGA Tour, Champions Tour, LPGA Tour, and Web.com Tour, including some of the top coaches in the world.

Blast Motion is a mid-staged startup based in beautiful Carlsbad, CA in a state of the art 20,000 sq. ft. facility including a sports science and usability lab, including state of the art optical machine vision systems.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for creating, test plans, test hardware, test software, assisting with design, schedules, implementation and execution of manual and automated tests, analyzing test output, reporting bugs, verifying bug fixes, and reviewing technical documentation. Responsible for training and all facets of product transition from development / preproduction to high volume production at contract manufacturer(s).

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate test plans and procedures to be used to verify product and feature requirements
  • Develop software and maintain databases used within manufacturing process
  • Drive contract manufacturer(s) to successfully execute all phases of production and product testing
  • Design and develop test automation, lead effort from NPI to production implementation
  • Develop test software and hardware requirements for existing and new product introduction
  • Participate in technical system requirements and design reviews
  • Lead effort in developing robotic test fixtures for QA department
  • Drive continuous process improvement strategies to improve first pass yield and throughput
  • Provide support for regulatory and certification test efforts 

EDUCATIONAL / TRAINING / JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Able to write software programs for manufacturing process
  • Experience with Python, C, C++, Objective-C, Swift, Java, and ASP.NET
  • Experience with working in Mac OS X, Windows 10, Linux, IOS, and Andriod environment
  • Proficient with various test equipment required to perform testing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate problems to management for rapid resolution
