We develop state of the art intelligent inertial motion sensors, 3D motion analysis algorithms / signal processing, smartphone-based apps with 3D visualization and machine learning, and cloud computing for advanced analytics via a team / coach oriented web portal. Through this chain of technology and refined solutions, our goal is to provide any aspiring or pro athlete a simple yet profound UX that enables them to improve rapidly through well founded sports science.

Blast Motion is already the official bat / swing sensor technology of Major League Baseball, and our technology is utilized by 85% of MLB Teams, hundreds of PGA pros, and all collegiate levels, from the Power 5 Conferences to Junior Colleges, along with thousands of high schools, elite travel teams, and organization customers for coaching, training, and recruiting. Blast Motion is now refining experience from these engagements and bringing them to aspiring athletes in ways that they can easily improve, rapidly and have fun in the process!

Blast Motion is a mid-staged startup based in beautiful Carlsbad, CA in a state of the art 20,000 sq. ft. facility including a sports science and usability lab, including state of the art optical machine vision systems.


Blast Motion is looking for a talented full-time web application developer. You’ll be helping us build our next generation of full-stack web technology targeting coach to player and team accelerated performance improvement with state-of-the-art motion sensing.  Duties include helping us to build, maintain and improve our web applications; Troubleshooting, diagnosing and fixing bugs and performance regressions; Identifying bottlenecks and places for improvement in existing code bases; and supporting our clients.


  • Lend your knowledge as an experienced PHP/Laravel developer to build and maintain our web application
  • Contribute to all aspects of the web application life cycle from concept to deployment to updates
  • Building responsive web applications and APIs from the ground-up, primarily using the Laravel PHP framework
  • Creation and maintenance of deployment scripts for production and staging environments
  • Writing unit and/or functional tests for all work as applicable
  • Performing quality control checks on all web work


  • 5+ years prior experience building web applications from the ground up
  • Proven hands on experience and expertise with PHP delivering products to commercial markets with an astute user community.
  • Demonstrated best practices in modern PHP code development in alignment with industry coding standards.
  • Proven experience with common PHP frameworks.Plus experience with Laravel.
  • Proven hands on experience and expertise with common Javascript frameworks with specific experience with VueJS, VueX and Vue Router.
  • Demonstrated best practices in modern Javascript code development in alignment with industry coding standards.
  • Mastery of HTML5, CSS3, Javascript and related modern web technologies in products delivered to market with larger user bases.
  • Experience with a structured version control control system and associated methodologies (with focus on Git and Github).
  • Must have strong team collaboration mentality with a passion for sharing knowledge. You’ll be working as part of a team that values learning and sharing towards developing state of the art creative solutions.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must be legally entitled to travel to the US


  • Working knowledge of GraphQL a large plus
  • Working knowledge of Elastic Search a large plus
  • Working knowledge of NoSQL solutions a large plus
  • Working knowledge of AWS services a large plus
  • Working knowledge of AmCharts a plus
  • Working knowledge of Linux server management a plus
  • Working knowledge of Docker a plus
  • Working knowledge of CI/CD build and deployment strategies a plus
