Sr. UI/UX Designer

Blast Motion is looking for a dynamic Sr. UX/UI Designer who will be responsible for designing engaging software products in the Sports markets that will help athletes and coaches become the best version of themselves through the use of relevant analytics and a solution that delivers in-game results.

The successful candidate for this position will be a highly creative, positive, self-driven, customer-focused designer that has a successful track record with revenue-generating SaaS and mobile app products. The ideal candidate has a differentiated aptitude for effective team collaboration and open communication with all levels of the organization, resulting in the convergence of vision and perspective into differentiated mobile and web-based applications. A thorough understanding of contemporary user-centered design methodologies is a must.

  • Lead interaction design and visual design as a part of a multi-disciplinary team from ground start proof-of-concept to app code completion, with a focus on solving customer problems and driving usability and user engagement
  • Research all facets of a customer problem through in-person interviews, data analysis, usability testing, and industry best practices
  • Act as “go to” UI expert with in-depth knowledge of user interface and data visualization best practices and standards
  • Collaborate on user experience and UI design planning with product owner, key internal stakeholders, customers, and product ambassadors
  • Be a highly active Agile Scrum team member in the development of personae characterization, target user stories, work flow / app flow
  • Develop and iterate on sketches, wireframes, and interactive app flows for early concept clarification and approval
  • Develop medium fidelity UI prototypes to enable efficient collaborative conversion to final design, ensuring adherence to business and product requirements and delivery on user goals, business goals, brand goals, and technical feasibility
  • Create high fidelity UI screens for use in final code development in collaboration with app developers
  • Act as “go to” for Blast Motion design system and standards and ensure designs adhere to them
  • Maintain and evolve design systems for web and mobile products
  • Take a data-informed approach to design decisions, using qualitative insights as well as quantitative data to evaluate and improve on designs
  • Strategize the approach to your work, thinking in terms of service design and systems, not just screens
  • Must have 5+ years of relevant design experience designing web and mobile applications for both consumer and professional users
  • Must have experience in UX/UI design for multiple SaaS-based web and iOS and Android mobile / tablet based apps successfully delivered to market
  • An in-depth understanding of design thinking, usability heuristics, inclusive design, design systems, and visual design skills (information design, typography, color, etc.)
  • Strong conceptualization ability, visual communication ability, drawing skills, and sketchbook technique
  • Exceptional iterative design skills, and attention to detail, including tracking feedback, change management, and version control
  • Experience with user interface design patterns and standard UCD methodologies. Ability to efficiently create wireframes as well as visual design comps
  • Expertise in producing relevant deliverables, including site maps, user flows, user journeys, page flows, taxonomies/folksonomies, paths to purchase, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that represent interactions
  • Mastery of current industry design tools, such as Figma or Sketch, and strong hands-on proficiency with collaboration tools, such as InVision or Miro
  • Working knowledge of product analytics tools, such as Flurry or Google Analytics
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate design work to multiple stakeholders, articulating your design decisions with research and data to back them up
  • Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Experience working with remote development teams
  • History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including customer and stakeholder presentation experience
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and successfully delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience with gamification of non-game software apps
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in interactive design, new media design, or related design field
  • Portfolio must be available to accompany resumé


  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Working knowledge of Swift and SwiftUI
  • Experience with 3D modeling, After Effects, rendering, and animation
  • Normal office conditions
  • Based in Southern CA or Western AZ
  • Up to 10% travel for customer engagements plus occassional travel to Blast HQ in San Marcos, CA
