Blast Motion Signs Miami HEAT Player James Ennis as Basketball Ambassador

(Carlsbad, Calif., – March 3, 2015) – Blast Motion, an industry innovator focused on redefining the digital experience with its wearable motion capture technologies, today announced its first basketball ambassador, small forward for the Miami HEAT, James Ennis. He will be integrating the technology into his practice regiment and showcasing his performance on behalf of Blast Motion.

“With his signature dunks and impressive vertical jump, he was a natural choice to showcase the power of Blast Basketball,” said Donovan Prostrollo, senior director of marketing, Blast Motion. “It’s one thing to see your own performance, and now you can compare your mechanics to a professional player’s!”

“I always want to be at the top of my game, and Blast Basketball is giving me more insight than I’ve had before,” said James Ennis, Miami HEAT forward. “Being able to see my progress over time with meaningful numbers is giving me the competitive edge I’ve been looking for.”

The Blast Basketball sensor securely clips to the waistband of the athlete and captures jump height, acceleration, rotation and hang time in tandem with Blast’s patented Smart Video CaptureTM technology. For the ultimate in motion capture metrics, Blast Motion’s exclusive Smart Video Capture allows users to see their activity in full 1080p HD quality with the metrics overlaid, giving users exceptional detail while playing back the activity and sharing to social networks. For the ultimate in a seamless user experience, Blast Motion’s software automatically curates the highlight videos, saving the user from having to spend time editing hours of video. Blast Motion’s proprietary technology is designed to be a non-intrusive solution while still providing performance metrics on video that help athletes understand and improve their game. Beyond the metrics captured, Blast Motion is introducing new diagnostic suggestions to improve an athlete’s performance with tips and simple mechanical adjustments.

James Ennis was acquired by the Miami HEAT in a draft night trade during the 2013 NBA Draft. Quickly gaining notoriety for his monster dunks in his rookie year, he is in the top 20 in minutes played for the season by all rookies. He spent the previous season with the Perth Wildcats of the Australian Basketball League where he helped the team win the 2014 Australian Basketball League Championship and capped the season finishing third in MVP voting. He was also named Australiabasket.com’s All-Australian NBL Player of the Year, Forward of the Year, Import Player of the Year, First Team and All-Imports Team that same year. Additionally, after his stint in Australia, Ennis appeared in 12 games (all starts) with Piratas de Quebradillas of the Puerto Rican National Superior Basketball.
