Blast Motion, Inc. Signs Oklahoma's Jocelyn Alo, Jayda Coleman, Kinzie Hansen as First NIL College Athletes to Join Elite Softball Ambassador Team

Powerful trio provides added dimension to new team that will lead a movement to empower female athletes by making swing metrics and insights more accessible via social media

SAN MARCOS, Calif. (June 1, 2022) – Blast Motion, a leader in motion analysis, performance insights and content for athletes, today announced the addition of University of Oklahoma Softball’s Jocelyn Alo, Jayda Coleman and Kinzie Hansen to its dynamic “Team Blast” ambassador team. These signings mark Blast’s first-ever NIL college athlete partnerships, joining a team that already features recent signees Haley Cruse and Paige Halstead, 2 of the world’s top softball influencers on social media, and will grow to include a number of other current and former pro softball players and coaches as well as more of the game’s top college players. Together, Alo, Coleman and Hansen helped lead the Sooners to a 2021 National Championship and elevate OU Softball to become one of the most dominant teams in all sports. Today’s announcement comes on the eve of Oklahoma’s run at the 2022 NCAA Women’s College World Series.

In addition to working with Blast’s engineering team to provide input into future Blast products and services, the threesome is looking forward to creating a variety of sharable content to cultivate engagement and empowerment among the softball community utilizing the Blast Softball swing analyzer (sensor), mobile app and Web platform.

Having recently been crowned as the NCAA career home run queen as well just last night being awarded the 2022 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, Alo has also garnered the following individual honors during her collegiate career: 3x Women’s College World Series All-Tournament Team (2018, 2019, 2021), 2x First Team All-American (2019, 2021), Softball America Player of the Year (2021), USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year (2021) and 2x Big 12 Player of the Year (2021, 2022). She also enters the 2022 WCWS this week looking to help defend OU’s title. Post-college, Alo will begin her professional career as the #1 pick in the 2022 Athletes Unlimited college entry draft, #1 selection in the Women’s Professional Fastpitch league’s inaugural college draft as well as being named to Team USA’s 2022 roster which will represent the United States in international competition this summer.

“I’m so excited for the opportunity to partner with Blast,” said University of Oklahoma player and newly crowned NCAA career home run queen Jocelyn Alo. “Having used Blast here at Oklahoma, I know how even little changes to my swing can translate into big results. With Blast’s technology, I love to check on my progress with key metrics and I’m able to visualize things that I wouldn’t otherwise be able to see or feel. What I’m really looking forward to is not only sharing my journey, but to help younger players better understand what makes their swings work—to help them continue to progress and achieve more than they thought possible.”

Coming to the Sooners as the consensus #1 prospect in the class of 2020, Coleman’s college play has been recognized to-date in the form of being named First Team All-American (2021) and First Team All-Big 12 (2021) among many other honors. She enters the 2022 WCWS this week with OU seeking its second national title in as many years, putting a cap on an outstanding sophomore campaign. This summer, Coleman also joins Team USA’s 2022 roster.

“Blast’s solution is key in helping me see the mechanics and technical side of my swing,” said University of Oklahoma player Jayda Coleman. “Training with Blast makes my data easily accessible and provides insights that are personalized to my swing so I can check my progress throughout the season as well as the off-season. It’s going to be fun taking my love for Blast to the next level by joining the team and showing other players how simple and powerful Blast’s technology and content can be for improving their performance.”

Now a junior with Oklahoma Softball, Hansen has not only remained a force at the plate but behind it defensively at the catching position. Her individual accolades to this point include: Women’s College World Series All-Tournament Team (2021), Second Team All-American (2021), First Team All-Central Region (2021), Big 12 All-Tournament Team and Most Outstanding Player (2021) and Big 12 All-Academic First Team Honoree (2021). She joins her teammates later this summer, representing Team USA after having been named to the Women’s National Team earlier this year.

“I partnered with Blast because I love to learn about my swing and how I can better my game,” said University of Oklahoma player Kinzie Hansen. “At this level, the technology that is accessible is necessary to see the parts of our swings that we may not feel. To me, the most exciting aspect about Blast’s solution and team is the development of a resource that allows softball players to develop into the best players they can be. I look forward to bringing my mentality to Blast, allowing the younger athletes to learn from an athlete that approaches the game aggressively and without fear.”

Using their talents and reach across Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, the ambassadors will collaborate with Blast to create training videos featuring swing tips and tricks to help players improve as well as generate content that showcase their personal goals, results, perspectives, personalities and behind-the-scenes journeys.

“We couldn’t be more elated to welcome Jocelyn, Jayda and Kinzie to the team as our first-ever NIL college athlete partners, especially at a time when all of their hard work and amazing talents are once again on display for the world to see in OKC,” said Blast Motion Director of Digital Marketing Austin Hurwitz. “Each of these ladies has used Blast’s solution as part of their collegiate journey and, while they have already achieved so much on the field as teammates and personally, we’re so excited to showcase their unparalleled work ethic, passion and creativity with the softball community. Everyone can train smarter, compete with greater confidence and generate game-changing results with Blast, and we share Jocelyn, Jayda and Kinzie’s determination to help athletes at all levels unlock their potential and grow the game.”
