Blast Motion introduces Blast ActionCam™ and Blast Basketball™ with retail partner Best Buy

Latest additions give basketball athletes and GoPro^® Hero action camera sports enthusiasts new ways to experience their most heroic moments by adding metrics to action videos

(Carlsbad, Calif., – October 28, 2014) – Blast Motion, an industry innovator focused on redefining the digital experience with its wearable motion capture technologies, today unveiled Blast ActionCam and Blast Basketball. These latest introductions complement its existing portfolio of products that include Blast Baseball, Blast Golf, and Blast Athletic Performance which give more athletes than ever the opportunity to see motion metrics in real time.

Blast ActionCam
Amplify every extreme sports experience with Blast ActionCam. By combining the Blast precision motion sensor with a GoPro® Hero action camera, consumers can now capture their action metrics (acceleration, vertical height, rotation, and hang time) and overlay them on top of dynamically created video highlights to experience their most heroic moments in a whole new way. The Blast motion sensor is affixed to the GoPro® action camera case with a waterproof action camera attachment, or it can be worn by an extreme sports enthusiast with a clip attachment, allowing users to capture extreme sporting events, from a motocross or BMX bike ride to an afternoon at the skate park. The Blast mobile app pulls video from the GoPro® camera’s integrated Wi-Fi network and dynamically identifies video highlights, overlaying a user’s performance metrics on the action video creating Blast highlights so that the achievements can be shared via e-mail and social networks.

Blast Basketball
Further expanding their line of sports and active life motion capture solutions, Blast Basketball securely clips the Blast precision motion sensor to the waistband of a basketball player, capturing highly accurate real-time performance metrics, including jump height, rotation, and hang time. There’s no need for the player to do anything out of the ordinary during practice or game play, and there are no power buttons or controls to get in the way. The Blast precision motion sensor knows when the user is moving and dynamically powers-up the sensor and engages the patented motion detection algorithms to capture the important 3D action metrics in real-time, allowing the player to focus on their game, not the technology.
