How Do Air Swings Work with Blast Golf and SuperSpeed Trainers?

Share:

Air Swings let you use Blast Golf with a SuperSpeed speed-training club to capture swing metrics without hitting a ball. Add your Speed Trainer club under My Clubs, turn on Air Swings in your Swing Mode, and follow a few best practices — a stationary start, one clean backswing-to-forward-swing path, and a 2-3 second pause between reps — to get accurate readings.

Setting Up Your SuperSpeed Trainer Club

  1. Tap the Menu icon on the Home screen.
  2. Tap My Clubs.
  3. Tap the plus icon in the bottom right.
  4. Tap Add a Club and choose the club closest to yours (not every model is listed; rename it in the Nickname field if needed).
  5. Set Club Type to Speed Trainer, Brand to SuperSpeed Golf, then select the model and nickname.
  6. Tap Add New Club.

Turning On Air Swings (iOS)

  1. On the Home screen, tap the Golf Modes selector.
  2. Tap Golf Modes and choose Full Swing, Short Game, or Bunker. (Putting doesn’t support Air Swings.)
  3. Locate Air Swings and swipe the toggle to the right.

To turn Air Swings off, swipe the toggle back to the left from the same screen.

Changing Modes Mid-Session (iOS)

  1. On the Home screen, tap Just Swing.
  2. Locate Air Swings and swipe the toggle to the right to enable it during your session.

Best Practices for Accurate Air Swing Metrics

  • Keep your hand off the Swing Analyzer grip attachment while holding the speed trainer.
  • Start each rep with the speed trainer stationary before your backswing.
  • Swing through a normal path — one backswing, then one forward swing.
  • Pause 2-3 seconds between swings so the sensor can register each one separately.
  • If you’re doing Level 4 of the SuperSpeed protocol, expect some Sprint-position swings to go uncaptured — that’s normal.

Getting Your First Air Swing Metrics

Blast Golf tracks swings in three modes — Online, Offline, and Video — and Air Swings work with all three.

  • Online: Connect your sensor, confirm it’s aligned in the club attachment, tap Just Swing, turn on Air Swings, and take a swing with no ball or ground contact. Metrics appear immediately.
  • Offline: Verify your sensor is charged and attached, then close the app, turn on Air Swings on the sensor, and swing. Reconnect afterward and tap the notification to download your swings.
  • Video: Turn on Air Swings, tap the Smart Video Capture camera icon, record your swing, then review it (and its metrics once contact is detected) in your Video Library.

Troubleshooting: Swing Not Captured

If an air swing isn’t registering, check the following in order:
1. Is the sensor charged (above 20%)?
2. Is your Gen 3 sensor connected to the app?
3. Is the correct club type and handedness selected?
4. Is the right Swing Mode active (Full Swing, Short Game, or Bunker — not Putting)?
5. Is the Air Swings toggle turned on?
6. Are you pausing 2-3 seconds between swings?
7. Are your swings landing in the valid speed range for your mode (roughly 20-75 MPH, narrower for some modes)?
8. Is the sensor aligned correctly (Blast logo aligned with the top of the clubhead, within about 5% variance)?

If you’ve checked all of the above and swings still aren’t captured, reset your sensor: on iOS, tap the Menu icon > My Sensors > select your sensor > Reset Your Sensor; on Android, tap Menu > My Sensor > select the sensor > Reset Sensor or Clear Sensor. Test again after the reset completes. If issues persist, contact Blast Motion support with your username and sensor serial number.

FAQ

Can I use Air Swings while putting?
No. Air Swings are only available in Full Swing, Short Game, and Bunker modes.

Why do some of my SuperSpeed Level 4 swings not get captured?
That’s expected. The Sprint position in Level 4 of the SuperSpeed protocol may not register every rep.

What speed range does a swing need to hit to count?
Generally between 20 and 75 MPH, though the exact range narrows depending on which Swing Mode you’re using.
