College: In-Game Sensor Use

The NCAA has approved the use of bat sensors during games as an experimental rule for the 2025 baseball season!

Major conferences including the ACC, MEC, Peach Belt Conference, Sun Belt Conference, and more will be capturing in-game data with Blast’s offline mode this season.

5 Reasons Why In-Game Data Matter

1. Enables first “complete view” of an athlete’s swing
(practice vs. in-game)

    • Used to analyze and track performance to efficiently gain insight into improvement areas
    • Offers unbiased comparability against a desired skill level and an inside view of high stress environments

2. Coach benefits

    • Used to efficiently identify performance deficiencies in one individual or group of athletes to expedite the path to improvement

3. Scouting data

    • Used to identify and compare athlete prospects using proven performance insights for the purposes of recruitment

4. Athlete recruiting

    • Used to showcase an athlete’s level of skill relative to their peer group by utilizing unbiased performance measurements

5. Data analytics

    • Used for player development, recruitment selections, and in establishing game day strategies (utilizing Blast data and other complementary pre and
      post impact data sets)
