Blast Motion Announces Blast Softball 360 and Lauren Chamberlain as Softball Ambassador
(Carlsbad, Calif., April 19th, 2017) Blast Motion, an industry innovator focused on improving human performance through software services and advanced sensor-based motion capture, expands its product lineup with the introduction of Blast Softball 360 and Blast Connect softball services. Blast Softball 360 utilizes the same technology that powers the Official Bat Sensor Technology of Major League Baseball® to deliver the industry’s most accurate swing analysis. Blast Connect delivers a full suite of softball-optimized analysis, coaching, communication, and management tools. Blast also announced professional softball player Lauren Chamberlain as a Blast athlete and softball ambassador. Lauren finished her college career with a NCAA record 95 home runs, and she was drafted 1st overall in the 2015 NPF College draft by the USSSA Pride.
“I’m excited to be working with Blast, National Pro Fastpitch (NPF), and USSSA to introduce the Blast technology to the softball community,” said Lauren Chamberlain, Professional Softball Player, USSSA Pride. “Anyone that knows me knows I’m passionate about softball and helping young female athletes become better hitters. This weekend, coaches and players will get their first look at the new Blast solution at the Lauren Chamberlain – Ultimate Fastpitch Experience in Choctaw, Oklahoma. It’s going to be fun to be part of the softball technology movement and growing the game!”
The Blast Softball 360 sensor and mobile app have been specially designed to combine video and metrics-driven swing analysis, helping players of all ages and skillsets understand and improve their swing mechanics, while learning how to hit with more power and efficiency. The waterproof sensor and bat attachment slip over the knob of any standard softball bat, allowing it to be used in practice or in-game. Blast technology has also been selected as the Official Sensor Technology of NPF and will be used to capture in-game swing metrics for all players at bat.
“For the past two years, we’ve worked with some of the biggest names in the industry to develop the best baseball product in the market,” said Justin Goltz, Baseball / Softball Channel Manager, Blast Motion. “With softball back in the 2020 Olympics, we recognized an opportunity to introduce a softball-focused product designed to give female athletes a competitive edge. We’ve worked closely with strategic partners, coaches, and customers to create a solution for softball players of all ages and skillsets. Blast Softball 360 ensures that softball players can compete on an even playing field with their baseball counterparts.”
Blast’s patented Smart Video Capture™ technology uses a smartphone camera to capture in-app video, while the app intelligently analyzes, combines, and syncs swing metrics with the video to deliver real-time, mobile video analysis. The app automatically detects a player’s swing and clips the video to create a series of video highlights. No user editing or practice interruption is required to experience this groundbreaking functionality.
Blast Connect further automates online and offline sensor data collection with a fully integrated suite of software analysis, coaching, communication, and management tools. Blast Connect gives coaches the ability to review an athlete’s practice sessions, assign drills and workouts, analyze metrics, and provide remote coaching through powerful video analysis, voiceover, and markup features.
