Axe Bat, Blast Motion Announce Partnership, Sensor Compatibility

Blast sensors, software, and services now support use with angled, Axe Bat handles

(RENTON, Wash., – July 17, 2018) – Axe Bat and Blast Motion, an information company that provides motion analysis and performance insights, today announced a marketing and development partnership that makes Blast technology fully compatible with Axe Bats for baseball and softball.

Starting today, with release 4.5.2, all existing Blast Baseball and Softball sensors and software applications support the use of Axe Bat’s patented angled handle, in addition to bats with traditional round knobs.

Axe Bat customers can purchase an Axe Bat and Blast Baseball or Softball sensor bundle, which captures real-time swing metrics and displays the information on an easy-to-use mobile application, exclusively through the Axe Bat online store (axebat.com).

Blast technology is used extensively at the highest levels of baseball and softball to measure, analyze, and improve swings. Recent updates to Blast’s algorithms ensure accurate readings from the Blast sensor when it is fitted to Axe Bat’s angled handle. This can be done with the same attachment used for a round knob.

“We’re pleased to be partnering with Blast Motion because we share their vision of improving the player and the game through better technology,” said Jay Helmick, Senior Vice President, Axe Bat. “We’re excited for players swinging Axe Bats to now have access to reliable, real-time swing data that they can use to better understand the benefits of the Axe Handle and to improve both their training and in-game performance.”

Blast Baseball is the Official Bat Sensor Technology of Major League Baseball, as well as select MLB teams, including the Houston Astros, Minnesota Twins, and San Diego Padres. The popularity of the Axe Handle among Big Leaguers has grown rapidly in the past two seasons and Axe Bat counts among its pro advisors such stars as Houston’s George Springer and Boston’s Mookie Betts.

Axe Bat’s partnership with Blast enables elite hitters, programs, and organizations to better observe and measure how the Axe Handle positively impacts the most important swing metrics. It also enables Axe Bat to refine and develop future handles from data-driven insights, potentially leading to greater customization and optimization for different types of hitters.

“With bat technology becoming more innovative, it was only natural we continue to support our customers’ needs with the ultimate goal of player improvement,” said Jeff Fallis, Vice President of Sales, Blast Motion. “As metrics continue to play an important role in how an athlete advances their career, enhancing the experience within our products and services while including the support of a growing bat brand that shares our commitment to giving the player a better swing is truly a win-win. We look forward to working with the team at Axe Bat, as well as their many users, to provide them accurate and real-time swing data with the ultimate goal of improving their performance.”
