Why Isn’t My Blast Sensor Recording Any Metrics?

Share:

If Blast Baseball isn’t recording metrics, the most common causes are swinging too slowly, not making contact with the ball, or a sensor that’s disconnected or low on battery. Work through the checklist below, and reset the sensor as a last resort.

Common Reasons a Swing Won’t Register

  • Swing speed too slow. Your bat speed must reach at least 20 mph for the sensor to register a swing. If you’re struggling to hit this speed, try building a bat with a length an inch or two longer to help generate faster speeds.
  • No contact made. The sensor requires contact with a baseball to register a metric. Air swings won’t register unless the Air Swings feature is turned on — that feature is only supported on Blast Golf.
  • Bunt or check swing. These swing types may not register.
  • Swings too close together. Pause two to three seconds between swings so each one registers individually.

Checklist Before Resetting

  1. Make sure your sensor is connected to the app and its battery is above 20%.
  2. Make sure the bat’s Length and Weight are set correctly in the app (Menu > My Bats).
  3. Repeat your swing, correcting any of the issues above.

How to Reset the Sensor (Last Resort)

If metrics still aren’t registering after the checklist above, reset the sensor:
1. Tap Menu from the Analyze, Training, Live, or Swings screen.
2. Tap Sensor.
3. Select your sensor.
4. Tap the sensor to reset.
5. Scroll to the bottom and select Reset Sensor or Clear and Reset Sensor.

Reset Sensor returns the sensor to factory default without affecting app settings. Reset Sensor or Clear also deletes any pending swings that haven’t uploaded yet — use this option if you’re having upload issues.

Offline Mode Notes

If you’re capturing swings offline, make sure you reconnect the sensor to the app afterward and upload your swings (Menu > Inbox > Offline Swings Ready on iOS, or the recycle icon showing your offline action count on Android) — metrics won’t appear until they’ve synced.

FAQ

What’s the minimum swing speed to register a metric? 20 mph or higher.
Do I need to make contact with the ball to get a metric? Yes — contact is required unless you’re using Blast Golf with Air Swings enabled.
When should I reset my sensor? Only after you’ve confirmed connection, battery, bat settings, and swing conditions are correct — reset is a last resort for persistent irregularities.
