INTRODUCTION
Duke University is a place of higher learning…on the baseball field. Its business, engineering, and med schools get all the pub—Harvard of the South?—but the baseball program leans as much on technology as the professor teaching a 400-level Experimental Material Science lab.
Meanwhile, four hours down Interstate 84 from the real Harvard is a facility on West 60th Street in New York City that collects and analyzes as much baseball data as Duke. For its 8-year-olds.
The moral of the story is that, whether you’re 6-foot-2 or 4-foot-2, baseball organizations use burgeoning technology to assess, track, and re-assess player development. And the common denominator seems to be Blast bat sensors.
